This post is a follow-up to the previous post on how to play against the Danish Gambit as Black. In the last video, we looked at both the declined and accepted versions for Black. In the video below, I go over a game I played today in the accepted version.
The game is a bit different from the lines in the previous video because White allowed me to castle without problems, and he was unable to make use of his Bishop pair or really get much of anything the entire game.
An interesting theme that comes up in this game is giving back some material. Often, when you have won some material in a game–by accepting a gambit or just in general–you can give some material back at a key point in the game to speed up your development, to avoid a big attack, to improve your position, or to achieve some strategic goal.
- speed up your development,
- avoid a big attack,
- improve your position, and/or
- achieve some strategic goal.
I mentioned this in the previous video, and theme surfaces early in the game in this post as well.
