By this point, I’m sure that you have heard the controversy about FIDE wanting exclusive rights to not only the live broadcasting of the event but also the live broadcasting of the moves being played. In previous years, several of the big chess websites have provided their own live commentary, but this has been shut down this year. I’m not sure whether this is good or bad for FIDE, but the decision does seem to be within their rights.
In any case, this means that the other chess sites have to content themselves with postgame analysis videos. You can check out these channels for postmortem analysis of the games in this year’s Candidates Tournament:
Chess.com’s YouTube Channel: Commentary and much of the analysis is provided by the always entertaining IM Danny Rensch. Some of the commentary, however, comes from Super GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (still the commentary is provided by Danny, but with MVL’s analysis).
Chess24 YouTube Channel: Analysis provided by several of the regular Chess24 contributors
ChessExplained YouTube Channel: Christof always does nice coverage of these Super GM tourneys.
ChessNetwork YouTube Channel: Jerry also has great coverage.
There are other channels as well, but it’s hard to spend time watching them all. I’d suggest checking out a few of them for the round of analysis that you are interested in. Then, whichever you like the best, just check back on their channel each day for updated coverage. Enjoy!
